Fulbright Israel announces an expansion of its board with four new members. The following new members serve in distinguished roles in academia, public policy, government, and the financial sector. The new board members are:
Thomas R. Nides: Thomas Richard Nides is an American banker and government official who served as the United States ambassador to Israel from December 2021 to July 2023. Nides was appointed Deputy Secretary of State and Chief Operating Officer of the U.S. State Department by President Barack Obama and was awarded the nation’s highest diplomatic honor by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for his service.
"I am honored to be "reuniting" with Fulbright Israel, particularly at this critical time when fostering and encouraging the free and open exchange of scholars and scholarship between the United States and Israel is of such great importance”, Nides commented. “I am also delighted to be reuniting in this endeavor with Sender, whom I appointed chairman of Fulbright Israel and whom I look forward to working with to expand its important work both bilaterally between America and Israel, as well as in the Middle East."
Ariela Dubler is the Head of School at The Abraham Joshua Heschel School, a Nursery through Twelfth Grade pluralistic Jewish day school in New York City. Ariela Holds a B.A. from Harvard College, an M.A. from Yale Law School, and a Ph.D. from Yale Graduate School of Arts and Sciences.

Pamela Reeves is an international development and policy strategist who advises governments, foundations, and companies. She is currently the Vice Chancellor of Brown University. She served in the Obama Administration as director of Secretary Hillary Rodham Clinton’s International Fund for Women and Girls at the U.S. Department of State. Pamela holds a B.A. from Brown University and an M.A. from Yale University.
About her new appointment, Ms. Reeves states, “The Fulbright program is designed for robust intellectual exchange. Israel, with its focus on scientific and academic excellence, is exemplary. I am proud, as a new board member, to be part of an organization that will help the world move in the direction of reason, logic, enlightened curiosity, and academic achievement.”
Jessica Liebowitz is a research scientist in Computer Science at Brandeis, where she has helped launch the Data Science Internal Internship. This project creates partnerships between undergraduates in data science and administrative offices across the university. Dr. Liebowitz also serves as the Chair of the Advisory Council for the Brandeis University Consortium for the Teaching of Hebrew Language and Culture. Dr. Liebowitz holds a BA from Yale University, a PhD from Harvard University, and an Honorary Doctorate from Middlebury College.
