Levy
Shai Levy received his B.Sc. degrees in materials science, engineering and chemistry, with Cum Laude honors, from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology. He continued at the Technion to a direct-track Ph.D. in materials science under the supervision of Prof. Yehonadav Bekenstein. His doctoral research focused on the optical and electronic properties of halide perovskite quantum dots and their collective light emission in ordered assemblies. His work has been recognized through several excellence scholarships from the Russell Berrie Nanotechnology Institute, the Helen Diller Quantum Center, the Jacobs Graduate School at Technion, and the Rothschild Excellence Award by Yad-Hanadiv Foundation.
In 2027 Shai will join the group of Professor Moungi G. Bawendi at MIT’s Department of Chemistry as a Fulbright Fellow. His research is set at the intersection of materials science, chemistry, and quantum photonics, focusing on the study of colloidal quantum dots as platforms for emerging optical quantum technologies. His work combines chemical synthesis of nanomaterials with advanced structural characterization using diffraction and electron microscopy techniques, and the study of their optoelectronic properties through spectroscopy and interferometry. During his postdoctoral fellowship, Shai aims to develop colloidal quantum dots as reliable sources of coherent single photons and to implement them in various quantum technologies.
